Rod Mill

Introduction

Rod mill is a kind of grinding equipment commonly used in mineral processing industry like ball mill, and it got its name by its grinding media-rod-shaped steel bar in its cylinder.

Rod grinding mill or rod grinder mill is widely used in metal and nonmetal mines, water conservancy, glass and building materials sectors, for grinding various ores, rocks, artificial sand and other materials with high requirement on product size. Therefore, rod mill can be used as A Class grinding mill in artificial sand, quartz sand, glass raw materials, artificial stone, mineral processing plants, chemical plants and other industries.

Applications of Rod mill:

1. Gravity or magnetic separation plant of tungsten, tin ore and other metals commonly use rod mill to grind materials in order to prevent the hazards of over crushing;

2. In some cases, rod mill can replace cone crusher to work as a fine crusher. When working with softer or less hard minerals (particularly sticky ore), rod mill is more suitable than cone crusher with short head.

3. Practice has proved that the rod mill has the ability to dry grinding wet material. Moreover, choosing the most appropriate lining plate can reduce the metal loss of raw materials.

Tips on the Installation of Rod mill:

1. Rod mill is usually installed on the plant or open airs;

2. Make an inventory according to packing list before installing the rod mill machine, check if any spare parts are damage and all spare parts are all in readiness.

3. Conduct a comprehensive inspection after installing the rod mill, especially to see if the lube tube is securely attached, refuel it before test running.

4. Check if all parts connections are solid and reliable, and whether there is foreign body on the impeller, if any, clear them. Check if the motor wiring is proper, and if the voltage is normal.

Principle

The electro motor drives the cylinder to rotate through the reduction gears and the peripheral rack wheel reducer transmission, or the low speed synchronous motor directly drives the cylinder to rotate through the peripheral rack wheel reducer transmission. Inside the cylinder, there are proper ore grinding media-steel rod. Under the eccentric force and frictional force, the ore grinding media are lifted to a certain height and fall down in the state of dropping. The materials to be ground continuously go into the cylinder from the ore feeding mouth and are crushed by the moving grinding media, and then are discharged by the overflow and the force of continuous feeding to go to the next procedure.
