Rotary kiln is widely used in the world for calcining smaller particulate matter, especially suitable for the majority of calcium carbide chemical, steel, non-ferrous metal and other industries. Rotary kiln can be used to directly calcine fine grade raw lime material with size of 10-40mm and dolomite. According to the different processable materials, rotary kiln can be divided into cement kiln, lime kiln and metallurgy rotary kiln. In the building materials industry, in addition to calcine cement clinker, cement rotary kiln and lime rotary kiln also can be used for calcining clays and limestone, drying slag and so on.

Wide Application and Advantages of Rotary Kiln

1. In mineral separation process, rotary kiln can be used to magnetizing roast of poor iron ore to strengthen its weak magnetism, for the high efficiency of magnetic separation.

2. In the chemical industry, rotary kiln can be used for roasting phosphate, barium sulfate and so on, with advantages of low energy consumption, less electricity consumption, making full use of middle-low grade phosphate rock, etc.

3. The whole cement production process can be summed up as “two grinding stage and one roasting stage”, and the “one roasting stage” refers to the process that roast the grinded raw meal to clinker in rotary kiln under high temperature. Therefore, the cement rotary kiln or cement kiln is the main engine in cement production line, commonly known as the “heart” of cement factory.

4. In terms of environmental protection, many developed countries have used cement kilns to burn hazardous waste and garbage for more than 20 years, which not only reduce waste, also make full use of waste as fuel.

Principle

Revolving kiln is the main equipment for cement production. The raw materials go from the kiln tail into the cylinder for calcinations. Due to the inclination and slow rotation of the cylinder, the materials will roll along the peripheral direction and also have compound movement along the axial direction from the high end to low end. Inside the kiln, the raw materials will have such technical processes as decomposition, calcinations and cooling, and become cement clinker and then will be discharged from the low end of the kiln cylinder and go into the cooling machine.
